Dremel Digilab 3D20 3D Printer Review

by Wayne F. Anderson

Dremel Digilab 3D20 3D Printer Review

Sometimes called additive manufacturing, 3D printers create three-dimensional objects from digital CAD models. This lets us make complex shapes but with less materials.

The most common application of 3D printers is in construction, whether that is in private, commercial or industrial use. You can also use it to build prototypes or different kinds of unique products.

One of the most popular 3D printers is the Dremel Digilab 3D20, and hundreds of people have bought it. But what are its features and weaknesses?

Perhaps you are not sure if this is the right 3D printer for you. In this post I will review the product, so you can decide whether or not to buy the Dremel Digilab 3D20!

Pros

1. Quick and easy to begin

Digilab 3D20 3D Printer

One of the best things about this printer is that it can’t get any easier to set up and start using. It comes with an open system to download and print free models.

Creating your own design is also easy through any CAD software.

2. Reliable

The Dremel 3D20 is known to be quite reliable, especially because each product has undergone a strict quality testing.

This will make sure that every customer can enjoy a reliable printing experience no matter what. The filaments they use have also been engineered to create the best result.

3. Full-Color LCD Touch Screen

The LCD touch screen features full color, which lets you interact comfortably with the various settings. You can also find your files and print them directly.

4. Fully Enclosed

The fully enclosed design of the 3D20 will optimize the printing success rate. This is because it creates a stable temperature in the mechanism.

In addition, this will prevent kids from poking at the work area during the process.

5. PLA Filament

Furthermore, if you have little kids at home, there is no need to worry! The plant-based PLA filament is non-toxic and completely safe for at-home uses.

Best of all, this has been designed to produce stable and strong objects with a premium finish.

6. 1-Year Warranty

If you always look for a warranty, then you will love the Dremel Digilab 3D20. The 1-year warranty will help you fix any damages with no additional costs. We think this alone could be enough assurance for those interested to buy it.

7. Simple Design

Another thing we love about this printer is its simple yet sophisticated design. This is a plus point in this modern age, where simplicity is valued above anything else.

Whether you are a beginner or experienced user, rest assured you will appreciate how easy it is to operate. It is even safe for children to use!

8. Plexiglass Build Platform

The Plexiglass build platform has a volume of 230 x 150 x 140mm, which is arguably not huge in 3D printing standard.

However, it should be enough for most beginners and will give a smooth finish at the bottom. You can also use the software to split up larger projects, which you can stick together to create a whole structure.

Cons

One of the downsides of this 3D printer is that it is not compatible with all 3D printing software. This might be especially tricky if you are using Windows 10 which no longer supports Print Studio.

You can get other programs like Simplify3d, but you would have to pay extra to get it. This is because the USB cable to connect the driver doesn’t work on Mac or Windows.

This broken driver issue is pretty much the only thing you should think about before purchasing. If you know you have access to a software that works to operate the printer, then go for it!

Otherwise, I highly recommend looking at other options first.

Price

In terms of price, the Dremel Digilab 3D20 is mid-priced in the sense that it’s not too expensive, nor is it too affordable.

It retails at $679 on Amazon, although this could change in the future. If you already have access to a compatible software, I can say that the price is well worth it!

But then again, this also depends on your personal budget and what you intend to use the printer for.

Conclusion

All in all, the Dremel Digilab 3D20 is a good 3D printer for any hobbyist or tinkerer. It’s quick and easy to use, reliable, fully enclosed and has a full-color LCD touch screen.

Moreover, the plant-based PLA filament is safe to use at home, while the simple design makes it suitable for personal use.
